There will always be a Mark shaped black hole. That is because he was obviously a huge part of our life’s, and somebody hugely important to us. That hole will never go away or get smaller. Over time, we will even come to treasure that black hole, because with the sadness and grief, in time, will come a peace at recognising we miss him so much because we have lovely memories of him. If we didn’t have lovely memories, we wouldn’t miss him and so the two can’t be unhitched from each other. Also, and most importantly, although the hole will never get smaller, in time bright lights will be found around the edge of the hole, like new little plants growing around the site of a forest fire. They will never replace the hole or make it go away, but their brightness will make it feel smaller and more manageable. I do not know what your bright lights will be, whether friends, family, your job etc, but I know they are out there for us and I hope we all find them.
